Arrington Sets New Personal Best at ACC Championships

Nov. 18, 2011

CORAL GABLES, Fla.–The University of Miami men’s and women’s cross country season came to an end Saturday afternoon at the Atlantic Coast Conference Championships hosted by Clemson University at the Musser Center course.

“It was a very competitive field on both sides today,” said assistant cross country coach Damon Griffiths.  “It’s not the where we wanted to finish the season. We are encouraged that we return almost all of the top seven finishers next year.”

Sophomore Lindsi Arrington clocked a personal best time of 22:19.8 to pace the UM squad. Arrington finished 63rd, scoring 60 points for the Canes.

“Lindsi ran a new personal best today. She is stronger and more confident than she was a year ago,” said Griffiths. “We are excited about her future.”

Arrington was followed by classmate Brooke Dovell who ran a time of 23:04.6 to finish in 79th place. Allison Ludwick was the next Cane to cross the finish line (24:19.4). The women scored 369 total points and averaged a time of 23:58.26.

Junior Greg Kaczka led the Canes on the men’s side, finishing in 25:23.6 for 75th place. Sophomores Connor Adams and Philip Wood were the next Canes to cross the finish line. Adams ran the 8K course in 25:35.4 and Wood in 26:03.7.

“Greg and Connor ran very well today. We needed to be higher up in the race to make a dent in the team scoring.” said Griffiths.  “Overall it was the best overall showing of the season.”

The Hurricanes will have a few weeks off before preparing for the indoor track season.
