Oct. 31, 2011
ProCanes Recaps: Week 7 | Week 6 | Week 5 |Week 4 | Week 3 | Week 2 | Week 1
CORAL GABLES, Fla. — The Monday Morning ProCanes report will weed through all the NFL highlights and news to bring you the information you care about the most… what the former University of Miami Hurricanes did during the week prior. Though other Pro Canes tight ends have stolen the spotlight so far in 2011, it was Hurricanes legend Jeremy Shockey who ended the suspense in week eight with his first touchdown catch of the season. The Pro Canes, who stretched their touchdown streak to 147 consecutive regular season weeks with Shockey’s score, accumulated four total touchdowns on Sunday, including their first defensive score since Week 7 of the 2009 season.
Frank Gore (San Francisco 49ers) – 31 carries, 134 yards, 1 touchdown
Frank Gore continued his torrid pace in 2011 with another dominant performance in his team’s 20-10 victory over the Cleveland Browns. The two-time Pro Bowler, who finished the game with a season-high 31 carries and a touchdown, moved into second place in all-time rushing yards for the San Francisco 49ers with his 134-yard performance. Gore rushed for over 100 yards for the fourth straight game, and is now less than 300 yards away from moving past the late Joe Perry for first place in franchise rushing yards.

Greg Olsen (Carolina Panthers) – 4 catches, 73 yards, 1 touchdown
On a day when quarterback Cam Newton threw for almost 300 yards, one of the rookie’s most important targets against Minnesota was his fifth-year tight end. Greg Olsen, who came up five yards short of a season-high, recorded his fourth touchdown catch of the season for the Panthers on a 39-yard rope from Newton in the second quarter. The former Bears tight end, who has enjoyed the change of scenery after a midsummer trade to Carolina, is now on pace to match career highs in both receptions (60, 2008) and touchdowns (8. 2008) and surpass his career high in yards (612, 2008) in 2011.

Jonathan Vilma (New Orleans Saints) – 3 tackles, 1 forced fumble, 1 touchdown
With his team in need of momentum after falling behind by three scores, linebacker Jonathan Vilma started a comeback bid for the New Orleans Saints against the St. Louis Rams that fell just short. Vilma, who forced a fumble earlier in the game, recovered a third-quarter fumble from Rams quarterback A.J. Feeley in the endzone for the Saints first touchdown of the day. The three-time Pro Bowler, who now ranks fifth on the team in tackles (32), recorded the second touchdown of his career and his first since his rookie season (2004) on the play.

Kickoff for the game is set for 8:30pm at Arrowhead Stadium.
