Lamar Miller added to Maxwell Award Watch List

Oct. 11, 2011

CORAL GABLES, Fla. – University of Miami redshirt sophomore running back Lamar Miller is among nine players that have been added to the 2011 Maxwell Award Watch List, as announced by the Maxwell Football Club of Philadelphia on Tuesday. The award honors college football’s top player.

Miller has been spectacular in the Canes’ first five games of the season, eclipsing the 100-yard mark in each game – becoming the first player in program history to accomplish the feat in the first five games of a season.

The Miami native currently leads the Atlantic Coast Conference and is ranked third nationally with 135.4 yards rushing per game. His career-best effort came on Sept. 17 against Ohio State, when he racked up 185 yards on 26 carries.

Semifinalists for the Maxwell Award will be announced on October 31 and the three finalists will be announced November 21. The winners of the 2011 Maxwell Award will be announced as part of the Home Depot ESPNU College Football Awards Show which will be held on December 8. The formal presentation of these awards will be made at the Maxwell Football Club Awards Gala hosted by Harrah’s Entertainment Atlantic City on March 2, 2012.
