June 2, 2011
Coral Gables, Fla… University of Miami head men’s tennis coach Mario Rincon will open the doors of the Neil Schiff Tennis Center to boys and girls ages seven-17 for two five-day camps – June 13-17 and June 20-24. The 2006 ACC Coach of the Year will share his keys to success and train campers on the same fundamentals and techniques that have guided the Hurricanes to five NCAA Tournament appearances over the last six seasons.
There are two registration options for participants. The full five-day camp runs from 9:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. and costs $295, while the half-day camp option runs from 9:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. and is just $145.
“Our goal is to encourage long-term tennis development by providing instruction in a positive and enthusiastic environment,” said Rincon. Technique, competitive drills, games, conditioning and match play are all part of the daily program.
After nine years on the ATP tour with appearances at the Australian Open, French Open, Wimbledon and U.S. Open, Rincon brings a wealth of knowledge and experience to his training sessions. He still plays competitively from time to time, and recently participated in the ATP Champions Tour. As Miami’s head coach, he has guided four players to 11 All-America honors, while leading the Hurricanes to a fourth-place finish in the Atlantic Coast Conference this season and a No. 27 final ranking.
University of Miami employees that wish to send a child to the Rincon Tennis Camp receive a $20 discount, and parents sending multiple children receive $20 off each child. Only one discount option may be applied.
