DAYTONA BEACH, Fla.  Maria Ronderos shot a seven-over par 79 in the first round of the NCAA Regionals on Thursday at LPGA International. The senior is currently in a tie for 92nd place heading into Friday’s second round.

Ronderos will look to improve her score on Friday at 1:15 p.m., with the third and final round scheduled for Saturday. Click here for live-scoring provided by GolfStat.

The Colombia native, starting on the back nine, shot three bogeys on the back and four bogeys on the front. She totaled 11 pars on the day at the Legends Course en route to a score of 79.

No. 49 Coastal Carolina (-2) leads the team competition after day one, with Jessica Alexander (-3) of Coastal Carolina and Jessica Negron (-3) of Florida State tied atop the individual leaderboard.

The top eight teams, in addition to the top two individuals in the tournament, will qualify for the NCAA Championships at Traditions Club in Bryan, Texas from May 18-21.

Ronderos is the first Cane to play as an individual at the NCAA Regionals since Tina Miller in 2003.
