Coral Gables, Fla.-The University of Miami Rowing team heads to Clemson, S.C. for the 12th Annual Atlantic Coast Conference Championship this Saturday.

After a close loss in the regular-season opener to Old Dominion and a successful weekend Regatta at the Knecht Cup, the Hurricanes head into the Championship with momentum. The Novice 8+ finished fourth overall, and will race as the 2nd Varsity 8+ this weekend.

“The ACC Championship is the main focus of the season,” said Head Coach Andrew Carter. “We’re facing two team who are nationally ranked, so we are measuring ourselves on a national scale. The team’s spirit is high, and we are all really excited.”

Virginia, who is ranked second overall in the country, comes into Saturday as the number-one seed in all four events-the First Varsity Eight, the Second Varsity Eight, the First Varsity Four and the Novice Eight. Miami will field crews in all except the Novice 8+, which will not count in the computing the final standings.

Miami looks to improve on its sixth place finish from a year ago, and is seeded fourth in both the first and second Varsity 8+.

The rowing will commence at 9:00 a.m with the Varsity 4+. The Novice 8+, the Second Varsity 8+ and the First Varsity 8+ are scheduled 20 minutes apart respectively. The awards ceremony is scheduled to take place at 10:30.
