GREENSBORO, N.C. – Miami senior Bianca Eichkorn has been selected as the Atlantic Coast Conference Women’s Tennis Player of the Year and leads the 2011 All-ACC Team, as announced today by Commissioner John Swofford.

Eichkorn is unbeaten in ACC play this season, with all but one of those victories coming in straight sets. The Tengen, Germany native owns an all-time ACC dual match record of 38-3, including 21 straight victories in a streak that dates to last season.

This season, Eichkorn is 24-2 in her last 26 matches going back to the middle of November and has won 15 of her last 16 in both singles and doubles. She was named the ACC Player of the Week three times this spring (March 15, March 8, Feb. 15) and owns a 14-4 record against nationally-ranked opponents in singles and is 10-3 against nationally-ranked doubles teams. Her 131 career singles wins tie her with former teammate Laura Vallverdu for the most in Miami school history.

Rachel Kahan of Duke was selected as the ACC Freshman of the Year, and North Carolina’s Brian Kalbas received Coach of the Year honors for the second straight season. Individual honors, as well as the 19-member All-ACC team, were determined by a vote of the league’s 12 head coaches.

Duke led all schools with four student-athletes voted to the All-ACC team. North Carolina followed with three selections, while Clemson, Florida State and Miami each placed two players on the squad.

Hurricane junior Ana Bartenstein was also named to the all-conference team. A native of Graz, Austria, Bartenstein is currently the 46th-ranked singles player in the nation and along with Eichkorn ranks fifth in the nation in doubles. She enters the ACC Tournament with a 9-3 singles record against ranked opponents and an overall No. 1 doubles record of 20-2.
