CORAL GABLES, FLA. – The University of Miami men’s tennis squad rides a five-match win streak into the Top 25 of the Campbell/ITA College Tennis Rankings this week.

Moving up from No. 32 to No. 25, the Hurricanes (8-3, 2-0 ACC) are back in the Top 25 for the first time since a No. 20 ranking in the poll released over one year ago on Jan. 26, 2010. Miami has not been ranked lower than No. 51 since then and entered this spring’s dual match season at 44th.

The Hurricane men join Miami’s women – No. 6 this week – as one of 17 programs across the country with both their men’s and women’s teams ranked inside the Campbell/ITA Top 25.

With the Hurricanes’ depth this season – including veteran leadership from seniors Christian Blöcker, Waylon Chin, Keith Crowley, Eduardo Pavia and Carl Sundberg playing at the top five positions – Miami has gone 4-3 versus ranked squads. All three losses on the season are to Top 30 teams, with two of them to Top 12 teams on the road.

Miami’s five-match streak includes three-straight road victories and wins at No. 28 Florida State and over No. 16 Georgia Tech to move the Hurricanes to 2-0 in ACC play. They are currently in second place in the early conference standings as one of just two ACC teams with unblemished conference marks, just behind No. 2 Virginia (16-0, 3-0) who has yet to lose a match this season.

Miami and Virginia will square off in Coral Gables on Fri., March 25, in the midst of a five-match homestand for the Hurricanes that began with last Friday’s win over the Yellow Jackets.

Miami returns to action versus No. 23 Minnesota on Fri., March 18, at 3 p.m. Admission is free to all regular-season matches at the Neil Schiff Tennis Center.
