Steinbruch, Macdonald Earn Fourth Academic All-ACC Honor

GREENSBORO, N.C. – Three members of the University of Miami women’s soccer team have been named to the 2010 All-ACC Academic Team, as announced by the Atlantic Coast Conference. Seniors Brittney Steinbruch and Brittney Macdonald were the only members that earned the award for the fourth consecutive year while junior Ashlee Burt was named to the academic team for the second season.
To be eligible for consideration, a student-athlete must have earned a 3.00 grade point average for the previous semester and maintained a 3.00 cumulative average during her academic career.
Macdonald ended her Miami career with an outstanding 3.843 GPA as a Biology major. The Littleton, Colo. native graduated in December and was a candidate for University’s nominee for the Rhode’s Scholarship. Just last week, Macdonald was awarded the ACC’s 2011 James-Weaver-Corrigan Postgraduate Scholarship – earning $5,000 dollars toward her postgraduate education.
Steinbruch, a Sports Administration major with a 3.686 GPA ended her playing career as the school’s all-time leading scorer, notching 80 career points with 36 goals and 8 assists. Steinbruch and Macdonald were the only two members of the 45-woman academic team to earn the honor all four years.
Burt earned a spot on the team with her impressive 3.844 GPA as a Psychology major for the second consecutive season.
