Shenise Johnson Named to All-ACC Defensive Team

GREENSBORO, N.C. – University of Miami junior Shenise Johnson has been named to the All-ACC Defensive Team for the second consecutive year, as announced by the Atlantic Coast Conference office on Wednesday.
Johnson, who was also named First Team All-ACC for a second straight season on Monday, finished second in the conference in steals with 3.2 per game – trailing only teammate Morgan Stroman (3.3 spg).
Johnson pulled down 7.8 rebounds per game during the regular season and led the Hurricanes with 26 blocks on the year.
On, Jan. 16 against Boston College, the versatile guard nabbed a career-best nine steals – the second-highest total in school history.
The Henrietta, N.Y. native is the first Hurricane to be named to the all-defensive team more than once and is the only repeat honoree on this year’s squad.
Florida State’s Christian Hunnicutt was the named the ACC Defensive Player of the Year, while Alex Montgomery (Georgia Tech), Waltiea Rolle (North Carolina) and Jasmine Thomas (Duke) rounded out the rest of the squad.
The 34th Annual ACC Women’s Basketball Tournament tips off at approximately 11 a.m. ET on Thursday, March 3, and will conclude with a 1 p.m. championship contest on Sunday, March 6. The title game, as well as the semifinals, will be broadcast by Fox Sports Net (FSN) in HD, while the 11 a.m. and 3 p.m. games on Thursday, March 3, and Friday, March 4, will be televised on the league’s regional package (RSN).
