Quarterback Transfer Tate Forcier Officially Joins the Hurricanes

CORAL GABLES, Fla. — The University of Miami has announced that former University of Michigan quarterback Tate Forcier has officially joined the football program. Forcier, who lettered two seasons at Michigan, will be eligible to play for the `Canes in 2012.
A native of San Diego, Calif. and Scripps Ranch High School, Forcier played in 20 games and started 12 in two seasons as a Wolverine in 2009 and 2010.
As a freshman in 2009, he started all 12 games and completed 165-of-281 passes for 2,050 yards and 13 touchdowns en route to CollegeFootballNews.com Freshman All-America honorable mention and Sporting News Freshman All-Big Ten honors.
This past season, Forcier appeared in eight games as a back-up and completed 54-of-84 passes for 597 yards with four touchdowns and four interceptions.
On the ground in his collegiate career, Forcier has carried the ball 140 times for 291 yards and four touchdowns.
Out of high school, Forcier was rated as a four-star prospect according to Rivals.com and Scout.com. In his prep career, he completed 529-of-760 passes for 7,448 yards and 61 touchdowns while rushing the ball 231 times for 2,049 yards and 24 touchdowns.
Due to transfer rules, Forcier will sit out the 2011 season and have two seasons of eligibly remaining.
Miami currently has three quarterbacks on its roster – senior Jacory Harris, sophomore Stephen Morris and senior Spencer Whipple.
