Feb. 8, 2011
GREENSBORO, N.C. – The University of Miami`s Devon Hill has been named the Atlantic Coast Conference’s Indoor Track Performer of the Week for his showing at the Virginia Tech Elite on Friday, Feb. 4.
Hill, the reigning conference champion in the 60-meter hurdles, moved to 3-0 in the event this season with his victory over the weekend.
In the preliminary round, the Trenton, N.J. native was the top finisher with a time of 7.76 seconds, breaking his own school record. A few hours later in the finals, Hill bested his record once again, this time earning a 7.71 clip to take first among the field of eight. His time currently ties for second in the country.
Hill is the first Hurricane man to earn the ACC Performer of the Week Award since Mikese Morse in March of 2009.
The Hurricanes have one more meet in preparation for the ACC Championships and that’s this weekend’s Tyson Ivitational – one of the most prestigious collegiate indoor races in the country. The meet is held on the University of Arkansas’ campus and will take place Feb. 11 and 12.
