CORAL GABLES – The University of Miami women’s basketball will face NC State in a Valentine’s Day matchup with NC State at Reynolds Coliseum on Sunday, Feb. 14at 5:30 p.m. The game will be televised on ESPN2.

Miami suffered its second overtime loss of the season, falling to the No. 21 Virginia Cavaliers 69-63 on Thursday night at the BankUnited Center. In the loss, All-ACC Player of the Year candidate Shenise Johnson recorded her seventh double-double of the season with 22 points and 11 rebounds. The Henrietta, N.Y. native also had a game-best five steals. Also scoring in double-figures for the ‘Canes were Riquna Williams with 15 points and Charmaine Clark with 12.

               

Johnson currently leads Miami in ACC play in scoring (18.2 ppg), rebounding (7.8 rpg) and assists (4.1 apg). She also has racked up 4.8 steals per game, best in the conference.

 

A Look at the Wolfpack

NC State heads into Sunday’s ACC matchup having dropped six of its last eight games, including its last, 70-39 against the No. 7 Duke Blue Devils.

               

The Wolfpack are led by Bonae Holston who is averaging 11.8 points and 6.1 rebounds per game. Nikitta Gartrell and Marrissa Kastanek score 11.0 and 10.3 points per game respectively. Amber White leads the team with 70 assists on the season.

               

NC State is averaging 65.6 points and 39.5 rebounds per game as a team. It is shooting 39.0 percent (562-1440) from the floor, 32.5 percent (105-323) from beyond the arc and 73.8 percent (346-469) from the free throw line. The Wolfpack also register 10.3 steals and 2.9 blocked shots per outing, while holding their opponents to 63.4 points per game and a shooting percentage of 39.5 (544-1377).
