Austin, Texas – All three University of Miami divers finished in the top three of the men’s and women’s 10-meter platform event on Saturday, finishing the third and final day strong at the Texas Swimming and Diving Hall of Fame Invitational at UT’s Lee and Joe Jamail Texas Swimming Center.

Junior Carrie Dragland (Woodinville, Wash.) finished as the highest UM diver on the day, turning in a second place performance in just her second platform competition of the year. Dragland scored 288.85 points in the finals, defeating her own previous season-best mark (278.50) set at the Georgia Tech Invitational two weeks ago.

Following her teammate in third place was freshman Thea Vock (Clermont, Fla.) with a score of 268.70. The score was a season-high performance for Vock on the 10-meter platform. Houston’s Lacey Truelove was the first place performer with a score of 291.10.

In the men’s diving well, freshman Samuel Dorman (Tempe, Ariz.) scored a third place finish on the platform, tallying a score of 359.15 – a season-best mark. National champions David Boudia (Purdue) and Drew Livingston (Texas) finished in order ahead of Dorman, who is competing in just his second platform event as a collegiate student-athlete.

Freshman Lindsay Lester (San Jose, Calif.) and 2009 National Champion redshirt senior Brittany Viola (Orlando, Fla.) did not compete for the `Canes on Saturday.

All scores for the Hurricanes participating on the platform were NCAA Zone “B” qualifying marks for veteran head coach Randy Ableman.

The female divers will be back in action on Jan. 15, 2011, as the Hurricanes travel to FIU at 11 a.m. As for Dorman, he won’t step onto the boards again until Jan. 30, when he participates in the USA Diving Winter Nationals Qualifying competition.
