Nov. 22, 2010
GREENSBORO, N.C. – University of Miami student-athletes Brandon Washington and Lamar Miller have been named ACC Players of the Week, as announced by the conference office on Monday. Washington earned ACC Offensive Lineman of the Week while Miller earned ACC Rookie of the Week honors.
Monday’s honor marks the second of the season for both players as Washington earned lineman of the week honors on Oct. 18 and Miller earned rookie honors on Sept. 7.
Miami has now earned ACC Offensive Lineman of the Week five times this season, including four of the last six weeks. Other UM honors on the offensive line besides Washington’s went to Orlando Franklin (Sept. 27), Tyler Horn (Oct. 25) and Brandon Linder (Nov. 15).
Washington graded out at 98 percent for the Miami offensive line, which helped the `Canes post a season-high 262 rushing yards against then-No. 14 Virginia Tech. Washington had seven pancake blocks and three lumberjacks. The work of the UM offensive line has led to 200-yard rushing games for Miami in five of the last six games.
Miller ran for a Miami season high 163 yards on just 15 carries against the Hokies. Miller’s output was a career high and included a touchdown. Miller averaged 10.9 yards per carry on a night when he posted five runs of 12 yards or more, including gains of 28 yards and 47 yards.
Other ACC honors this week went to Virginia Tech’s Ryan Williams (Offensive Back), Boston College’s Luke Kuechly (Defensive Lineman), Georgia Tech’s Mario Butler (Co-Defensive Back), Florida State’s Nick Moody (Co-Defensive Back) and NC State’s T.J. Graham (Specialist).
