Bailey, Horn Earn ACC Player of the Week Honors

GREENSBORO, N.C. – University of Miami student-athletes Allen Bailey and Tyler Horn have been named Atlantic Coast Conference Players of the Week, as announced Monday by the conference office. Bailey earned defensive lineman honors while Horn is the second Hurricane in as many weeks to be recognized as ACC Offensive Lineman of the Week.
Bailey had a career game with six tackles and 3.5 sacks for a total loss in the Hurricanes’ 33-10 win over North Carolina on Saturday. Miami entered the evening leading the country in tackles for loss and Bailey helped add to that total as the `Canes tallied eight as a team against the Tar Heels. Led by Bailey. The `Canes sacked UNC quarterback T.J. Yates five times, the most by an opposing defense versus the UNC this season.
On the year, Bailey leads the team with 5.5 sacks and ranks second with 8.5 tackles for a loss. He also leads all UM defensive linemen with 27 tackles on the year
Horn helped power Miami’s offense to 33 points against a North Carolina unit that entered the game ranked second in the ACC in scoring defense. The Hurricanes’ center graded out at 97 percent and registered six pancake blocks against the Tar Heels. Miami racked up 442 yards of total offense in the game.
Horn’s honor is the second straight for UM after Brandon Washington was recognized last week following his performance at Duke.
Other ACC honors went out to Clemson’s Andre Ellington (Offensive Back), Maryland’s Antwine Perez (Defensive Back) and Danny O’Brien (Rookie) and Virginia’s Terence Fells-Danzer (Specialist).
