CORAL GABLES — The University of Miami football team moved up from No. 25 to No. 22 in both the AP and USA Today/Coaches polls on Sunday, a day after the Hurricanes cruised to a 33-10 win over North Carolina.

The Hurricanes also made their season debut in the BCS Standings coming in at No. 22.  The BCS unveiled its championship standings last week, when the ‘Canes just missed the cut.

Miami (5-2, 3-1) is off to its best start in Atlantic Coast Conference play since the 2005 season, with wins over Clemson, Duke and North Carolina to its credit.

UM is one of three ACC teams ranked this week along with Florida State (AP – 16: Coaches – 15) and Virginia Tech (AP – 21; Coaches – 21).

Both polls share the same Top 5 – No. 1 Oregon, No. 2 Boise State, No. 3 Auburn, No. 4 TCU and No. 5 Michigan State.

The `Canes will face its third straight ACC Coastal Division foe when they travel to Charlottesville, Va. to take on Virginia on Saturday, Oct. 30 at 12 p.m.
