Miami to Host No. 7 Virginia in Final Home Game

The University of Miami women’s soccer team is set to begin a three-game stretch against Top 10 teams, beginning with No. 7 Virginia Sunday at Cobb Stadium. The match will be the final regular season home game for the Hurricanes with kick-off set for 1 p.m.
Miami (10-5-1, 4-3-0 ACC) reached the 10-win plateau for just the fifth time in program with its 2-0 win over Virginia Tech on Thursday. In that game, senior Brittney Steinbruch extended her school record by scoring the 15th game-winning goal of her career. Sophomore Jordan Roseboro sealed the victory with a second half goal – her third of the season.
Vikki Alonzo made six saves in recording her seventh shutout of the season and the 24th of her career.
Virginia (10-3-2, 4-2-1 ACC) will be playing the second game of its Sunshine State swing after it battled No. 9 Florida State to a scoreless tie on Thursday.
The Cavaliers are led by three-time ACC Player of the Week Meghan Lenczyk, who has 12 goals and four assists on the season. A total of five players have three or more goals on the season as Virginia has totaled 39 for the year.
Goal keeper Chantel Jones sports an impressive 0.58 goals against average and has recorded eight shutouts on the year.
Fans in attendance will have the chance to win several prizes, including a team autographed poster and soccer ball as well as one of many Miami Soccer t-shirts. Tickets can be purchased for $3 for children and $5 for adults at the Cobb Stadium gate one hour prior to kick-off. University of Miami students receive free admission with their `Cane Card.
