Miami to Face Defending Champs on Sunday

The University of Miami women’s soccer team will face its highest-ranked opponent of the season when it takes on No. 2 and defending national champion North Carolina at Fetzer Field. Kick-off is scheduled for 1 p.m.
The Hurricanes (9-4-1, 3-2-0 ACC) have played two road games inside Atlantic Coast Conference play this season and have come away with victories in both. On Thursday, the `Canes used second-half goals from Brittney Steinbruch and Kelley Griffin to take down NC State, 2-0.
In that game, goal keeper Vikki Alonzo made eight saves in recording her sixth shutout of the season and the 23rdof her career – extending her career record.
Currently, Miami has scored 27 goals as a team and already ranks as the seventh-best total in team history with five regular season games still remaining.
Steinbruch has scored a team-leading seven goal this season and has added a pair of assists for 16 total points.
The Tar Heels (12-1-1, 4-1-0 ACC) have won four straight, with their last victory coming against No. 7 Florida State on Thursday.
Alyssa Rich leads her squad with seven goals and five assists, while goal keepers Hannah Daly and Anna Sieloff share duties, combining for eight shutouts on the season.
