Two Hurricanes Take Part in NACAC Championships

CORAL GABLES –  The University of Miami’s Ti’erra Brown and Tameka Jameson have been selected to participate in the 2010 North American, Central American, and Caribbean Athletic Association (NACAC) U-23 Championships, July 9-11 at the Ansin Sports Complex in Miramar, Fla.

 

“It is always an honor to represent your country in international competition, said Director of Track and Field Amy Deem. “The NACAC will give Tameka and Ti’erra an opportunity to experience track and field at the next level.”

 

Brown and Jameson will both representing the United States and will be competing in the 400m hurdles, while Brown will also compete in the 100m hurdles.

 

Brown a five-time All-America honoree, is the third ranked American in the 400m hurdles this year with a season-best time of 54.74 seconds and the Hampton, Va. native won the USA Championship in the event in late June. Jameson is tied for seventh at 55.73 seconds. Each woman’s top-time came at the NCAA Preliminary Round held in Greensboro, N.C. in May.

 

In the 400m hurdle NCAA final Brown was the runner-up for the second straight year at 55.22 seconds and Jameson placed third at 56.37 seconds.

 

The championships will feature 26 nations and 462 athletes and can be viewed live online at usportstv.net as a pay-per-view service. Tickets for the event can be purchased miramarculturalcenter.org for $10 a day or $25 for all three days.
