Weymouth, Mass. – The No. 50 University of Miami men’s tennis team won two-of-three doubles matches and five of six in singles play to cruise to its third-straight ACC victory, downing Boston College, 6-1, on Sunday afternoon. It also marked the second-straight ACC road win for the Hurricanes (9-10, 3-6).

Christian Blöcker and David Simon won their third-straight doubles match to improve to a team-best 16-9 this season, while All-American Carl Sundberg and Ignacio Taboada won back-to-back road matches to improve to 2-0 versus conference competition.

For the second-straight match, the Hurricanes dominated singles competition with four straight-sets victories over the Eagles (8-13, 0-9) – including Keith Crowley at No. 3 and Taboada at No. 6, who each won their third consecutive matches.

Waylon Chin extended his team-long win streak to five straight, downing BC’s Brian Locklear, 4-6, 7-6, 10-2 at No. 5.

“BC put a lot of pressure on us early in the doubles,” said sixth-year head coach Mario Rincon. “But our guys stayed composed and we were able to turn things around and won the doubles point – which gave us a lot of confidence going into singles.

“Overall, it was a good weekend with us winning two ACC matches on the road. We’re building momentum as we return home and ready to play two more tough ACC teams.”

The Hurricanes host their final two regular-season matches, taking on No. 20 Duke on Fri., Apr. 16 at 3 p.m. and No. 19 North Carolina on Sun., Apr. 18 at Noon.
