Ronderos Leads Hurricanes on Day Two of Hurricane Invitational

MIAMI LAKES, Fla. – Junior Maria Ronderos shot three-over par 75 and the University of Miami women’s golf team sits in 12th place after day two of the Hurricane Invitational at Don Shula’s Golf Resort Monday.

Miami is 12th going into the final day with a team score of 617, which leaves the Hurricanes 17 strokes out of the top three. Georgia State continues to lead the tournament at 16-over par 592. San Diego State tied UCF for Tuesday’s best team round of 293. The Aztecs are now second with a two-day score of 596. UCF (600), Coastal Carolina (600), East Tennessee State (604) and James Madison (604) also are in the top five.

After shooting eight-over par on day one, Ronderos bounced back on day two. She shot

Junior Christina Hirano turned in the Hurricanes’ second best score. She shot six-over par 78. Jennifer Hirano and Begona Sarabia each shot seven-over par 79 while freshman Shelby Gilbert shot an eight-over par 80. Freshman Melanie Kleiner, who is competing as an individual, shot 87.

The final round of the tournament is slated to tee off at 8:30 a.m. Tuesday.
