Coral Gables, Fla. – The University of Miami swimming team won all 11 events on Saturday en route to a 163-60 victory over visiting Central Connecticut State at the Norman A Whitten University Center Pool in Coral Gables, Fla. After winning her first collegiate 500-yard freestyle event last week against Illinois and Nebraska, freshman Christine Anderson took part in her first 1000-yard freestyle against CCSU. The result was the same, with the Chattanooga, Tenn., freshman claiming a winning time of 10:24.88. The time would serve as the third-fastest on the team thus far on the year. For Hatic, a normal stroke swimmer for the `Canes, today’s 200 free served as her first freestyle event of any kind in her Miami career.
“I was excited about the way the girls competed today, and I just thought the effort level was extremely high,” stated UM head swimming coach Christie Shefchunas. “I put some of them in different events, and they went with it, and performed well despite it not being their normal events.”

“I’m really happy about where the team is headed right now, and where we are positioning ourselves for the upcoming ACC Championships,” added Shefchunas. “They did an amazing job over the holiday training period, and I think they’re ready for the ACC’s – and ready to keep gaining confidence each time out in the water.”
