Feb. 13, 2009

GREENSBORO, N.C. – Five members of the University of Miami women’s soccer team have been named to the 2008 All-ACC Academic Team. Sophomores Brittney Macdonald, Brittney Steinbruch and Lauren Singer earn their second nod, while senior Corynn Carino and freshman Juilianne Rickers were recognized for the first time.

To be eligible for consideration, a student-athlete must have earned a 3.00 grade point average for the previous semester and maintained a 3.00 cumulative average during her academic career.

Only National Champion North Carolina (7) and Duke (6) had more representatives than Miami on the team. Since joining the ACC in 2004, the Hurricanes have not had more than three student-athletes that have been recognized, until this season.

Miami is coming off back-to-back appearances in the NCAA Tournament for the first time since its inception in 1998 and head coach Tricia Taliaferro just announced the 2009 incoming class, which features 10 very talented student-athletes.
