Men's Tennis Strong Versus LSU

Tampa, Fla… The University of Miami men’s tennis team claimed five singles wins and one doubles victory versus LSU on day two of the USF Fall Invitational at the USF Varsity Tennis Courts on Saturday.
The Hurricanes won five of seven singles matches on the afternoon, including three matches in the top-four flights. All-American Carl Sundberg was victorious at No. 1 with a 6-3, 1-6, 11-9 decision over LSU’s Neil Skupski.
Christian Blöcker and David Simon were winners in both singles and doubles matches versus the Tigers. The duo battled to the 9-8 victory over Skupski and Stefan Szacinski, 9-8, in the top flight to improve to 3-2 for the fall.
Blöcker and Simon also each picked up their second-straight singles victories. Simon (6-4) cruised to the 6-2, 6-2 straight-sets win over James Turbervill at No. 4, while Blöcker (5-3) came back for the 6-4, 2-6, 10-5 victory over LSU’s Julien Gauthier at No. 3.
Miami’s Ignacio Taboada improved to 2-0 in the fall with a 7-5, 7-4 win over Szacinski at No. 5, while Barnabas Carrega claimed his first victory of the season with a 6-4, 3-6, 10-6 comeback over Cody Loup at No. 6.
Miami, host USF, UCF and LSU are competing in the three-day invitational in which two champions will be named. The player who earns the most singles points over the course of the weekend will be named the singles winner of the 2009 USF Fall Invitational, while the player who earns the most doubles points over the weekend will claim the doubles crown.
