Reuben Ross Prepares for NCAA Diving Championships

March 25, 2009

Coral Gables, Fla. – University of Miami All-American junior diver Reuben Ross is set to take center stage at this year’s NCAA Men’s Swimming and Diving Championships going on Thursday through Saturday in College Station, Texas. This year’s event is hosted by Texas A&M University inside the Student Recreation Natatorium.

Ross will first take part in the 1-meter event on Thursday, Mar. 26, while then stepping onto the 3-meter board Friday. The three-day event is concluded on Saturday with the 10-meter platform. Times for the events have yet to be determined, as the diving portion of the championship will take place following the last heat of the swimming preliminaries and finals, respectively.

Ross, the only male diver on the Miami diving squad, is a native of Regina, Saskatchewan (Canada). He returns to this year’s championships after collecting a National Championship a year ago in the 3-meter springboard event, while also being named an All-American in the 1-meter, 3-meter and platform events.

He was recently named as the 2009 Atlantic Coast Conference (ACC) Championship Most Valuable Diver as he won the 1-meter and 3-meter events, while taking second place on the platform.

During the 2008-09 season, Ross registered the highest score of any competitor during an event in the 3-meter, while posting the fourth-best score on the 1-meter. He followed that up with the highest score on the platform. Eventual ACC platform champion Dan Frebel (Florida State) was second in points on the platform throughout the regular season.

Live stats/results for all diving events, as well as full bios of each participant will be made available through www.divemeets.com.
