Cory Nelms, junior, Track and Field At the ACC Championships at Virginia Tech, Nelms won the 60-meter hurdles event with a time of 7.95 seconds in the finals. The first place finish was the first ACC title of his career. This event marked one of three individual titles for Miami in the meet.

Harold Martinez, freshman, Baseball This past week, Martinez helped lead Miami to a sweep of Florida and a win over Mount St. Mary’s. He drove in 5 runs as well as scoring 5 runs of his own, including 2 home runs. Martinez currently stands as the team leader in RBI with 10 following Wednesday’s win.

Laura Vallverdu, junior, Women’s Tennis This past Thursday against Boston College, Vallverdu (13-5) collected 2 wins to lead Miami to a win. She defeated previously ranked Lauren Cash in straight sets in singles play. Teaming up with Michaela Kissell for the first time this season in doubles, Vallverdu cruised to her second win with an 8-1 defeat.
