Hurricanes 12th after Day One at Palmetto Intercollegiate

KIAWAH ISLAND, S.C. – –

 

Freshman Jennifer Hirano shot two-over par 74 and the University of Miami women’s golf team is 12th after day one at the Palmetto Intercollegiate hosted by the College of Charleston Monday.

 

Miami shot 312 Monday, but the Hurricanes find themselves 13 strokes out of first place and eight strokes out of the top five. East Tennessee State shot 299 to lead the field of 19.

 

Jennifer Hirano put together a 36 and 38 on the front and back nine to pace the Hurricanes as she is tied for ninth place. Freshman Begona Sarabia shot a five-over par 77 tying for 31st.

 

Sophomore Christina Hirano shot eight-over par 80 while Anabelle Paulino’s 81 and Maria Ronderos’ 84 finished out the scoring for the Hurricanes on day one.

 

Miami will continue play in the Palmetto Intercollegiate Tuesday. The golfers will finish the second round beginning at 8:45 a.m. Tuesday before playing the third round immediately after.
