Team Notes

  • UCF scored two non-offensive touchdowns today for the first time since Nov. 17, 2007 against SMU (Johnell Nealinterception return and Khymest Williams kickoff return).
  • UCF now has 13 interceptions on the year. Entering today’s games, North Carolina’s 12 led the nation.
  • Johnell Neal’s second quarter interception return touchdown was UCF’s first of the year and the first by the Knightssince Neal ran one back 72 yards for a touchdown against SMU on Nov. 17, 2007.
  • With Sha’reff Rashad’s first quarter interception, UCF has now intercepted a pass in 14 consecutive games.
  • The safety was the first against UCF since Tulsa had one in the 2007 Conference USA Championship Game.
  • The Knights have held their opponents scoreless on the opening drive of five out of six games this year and eight ofnine overall.

Individual Notes

  • Sha’reff Rashad had his first career multiple-interception game.
  • Joe Burnett’s 91-yard kickoff return for a touchdown was his second of the year and the second of his career, theother being a 91-yard scamper against USF on Sept. 6. He is the only player in UCF history with both a punt return and akickoff return for a touchdown in his UCF career. The school record for a single season is three by Todd Cleveland in1994.
  • Joe Burnett today broke the school career punt return record of 85, previously held by Mike Dickinson (1989-92).Burnett already held the career punt return yardage and punt return average marks and is tied for the school puntreturn touchdown record. He also holds the Conference USA career punt return yardage benchmark.
  • Johnell Neal’s 62-yard interception return for a touchdown gives his 247 career return yards which breaks the previousschool benchmark of 223 set by Ray Irvin from 1988-90…It was his second career interception return for a touchdown,the other coming on Nov. 17, 2007 against SMU.
  • Sha’reff Rashad’s two interceptions today give him 12 on his career while Johnell Neal’s second quarter pick gives him11. They rank third and fourth, respectively on UCF’s career chart. Joe Burnett holds the record with 14.
  • Nick Pieschel made his first career start today at left guard. He is the 41st current Knight who has started a game in hiscareer.
  • Pat Brown started his 44th consecutive game at left tackle today, the nation’s longest streak at that position.
