Hirano, Ronderos, Sarabia Lead UM on Day Two at Cougar Classic

CHARLESTON, S.C. – Freshman Jennifer Hirano (Pinole, Calif.), sophomore Maria Ronderos (Bradenton, Fla.) and freshman Begona Sarabia (Bilbao, Vielua (Spain)) each shot a four-over-par 76 Monday to lead the University of Miami women’s golf team through the second round of competition at the 2008 Cougar Classic hosted by College of Charleston at Yeaman’s Hall Golf Club.
Jennifer Hirano, who shot 38 on both the front nine and back nine, finished the afternoon tied for 32nd place on the individual leaderboard with a two-day total of 149 (five-over-par). Sophomore Christina Hirano is tied for 70th after turning in an 80 on the second day bringing her to 10-over-par (154) for the tournament. The Hurricanes wrapped up the second round in 19th place with a 308 (+20) for the second straight day. UM has a two-day total of 616.
Ronderos opened up Tuesday shooting a 36 on the front nine. She is tied for 81st. Freshman Begona Sarabia shot 37 on the front nine and 39 on the back nine to finish tied for 85th on day two. Senior Anabelle Paulino (Santo Domingo, Domincan Republic) shot 87 rounding out the scoring for the Hurricanes.
Play at the Cougar Classic will resume Monday with the second round followed by the final round Tuesday.
