Miami Practices through Inclement Weather Monday

CORAL GABLES, Fla. – With Tropical Storm Fay bearing down on South Florida, the University of Miami football team worked in a two-hour practice in the rain Monday morning at the Greentree Practice Fields.
Miami worked through its normal practice routine spending time on 7-on-7 drills, some special team work and a few plays in the red zone before wrapping up with a quick 11-on-11 team session. The Hurricanes will hold its final scrimmage of camp Tuesday night.
After practicing through a few early showers Sunday afternoon, the team reported Monday morning shortly after conditions began to deteriorate in the Coral Gables area. Rain, falling harder at times, fell throughout practice with temperatures in the mid 70s and wind gusts up to 15 mph from the east.

The UM ticket office, located at the Hecht Athletic Center on UM’s campus, is open from 8:30 a.m. to 5 p.m., Monday to Friday.
UM’s season-opener is slated for Thursday, Aug. 28 against Charleston Southern at Dolphin Stadium. Kick-off for the opener is slated for 7:30 p.m. and all fans are encouraged to wear orange to the game against the Buccaneers.

Monday’s practice lasted approximately two hours
Safety Anthony Reddick and linebacker Romeo Davis were held out of practice Monday.
UM will hold its third and final scrimmage of fall camp Tuesday night at 7 p.m.
Shannon noted the team will focus on special teams work at Tuesday’s scrimmage.
The Hurricanes’ season-opener against Charleston Southern is 10 days away.
