Miami Practices through Inclement Weather Monday

Aug. 18, 2008

CORAL GABLES, Fla. – With Tropical Storm Fay bearing down on South Florida, the University of Miami football team worked in a two-hour practice in the rain Monday morning at the Greentree Practice Fields.

Miami worked through its normal practice routine spending time on 7-on-7 drills, some special team work and a few plays in the red zone before wrapping up with a quick 11-on-11 team session. The Hurricanes will hold its final scrimmage of camp Tuesday night.

After practicing through a few early showers Sunday afternoon, the team reported Monday morning shortly after conditions began to deteriorate in the Coral Gables area. Rain, falling harder at times, fell throughout practice with temperatures in the mid 70s and wind gusts up to 15 mph from the east.

Fans can order tickets for the 2008 season, including season tickets starting at $99, by visiting or by calling the UM ticket office at (800) GO-CANES or (305) 284-CANE. The UM ticket office, located at the Hecht Athletic Center on UM’s campus, is open from 8:30 a.m. to 5 p.m., Monday to Friday.
