Hurricanes in Fifth Heading into Final Round of Cuthbert Cup

Kiawah Island, S.C. – The University of Miami’s Christina Hirano fired off a 79 to finish day two of the College of Charleston’s Cuthbert Cup in a tie for 10th place on the Osprey Point course.<?xml:namespace prefix=”o” ns=”urn:schemas-microsoft-com:office:office”?>
After a first-round three-under par 69 on the Cougar Point course, Hirano leads the Hurricanes with a combined total of 148 heading into Tuesday’s final round which will played at Osprey Point.
Maria Ronderos shot a 77 on Monday for a two-round total of 149, which puts her in 14th place heading into the third round.
After two rounds, the Hurricanes are in fifth place in the 13-team field with a combined score of 600 (295-305). The host College of Charleston remains in the lead with 583 strokes (287-296), while UNC Wilmington moved into second place with the strongest second day (290) for a combined 586.
UM’s Jessica Steward had the best second round for the Hurricanes, firing off a one-under-par 71, to enter the final round in a tie for 22nd place (151) after shaving off nine strokes from her day-one performance.
Hagen Weintraub is in a tie for 26th, while Brook Stuart is in 62nd after two rounds.
