Senior Renee Taylor comes off a 17-point outing — including five three-pointers — versus Georgia Tech, and continues to lead Miami with an ACC-best 18.9 points per game, including 2.4 three-pointers an outing to rank second in the league behind UNC’s Ivory Latta. With two regular-season games remaining in her collegiate career, Taylor is just 24 points shy of becoming the 19th member of Miami’s 1000-point club in her second season with the `Canes.

Freshman Charmaine Clark also comes off a solid performance versus Georgia Tech, finishing just shy of a double-double with 11 points, nine rebounds and a career-high four assists. The true freshman has become a mainstay in the Hurricane lineup, starting 17 games this season — including the last 11 straight in ACC play. She is one of just five players to rank among the ACC’s leading freshmen in four or more statistical categories, and is averaging 12.6 points and 6.8 rebounds for the Miami over the last eight games.

Junior Maurita Reid adds 14.4 points (10th in the ACC) and 3.3 steals per game — which ranks second in the ACC and 11th in the NCAA — for the Hurricanes. She is also among the league’s leaders from beyond the arc with 2.1 three-pointers per game (6th in the ACC) at a .393 clip (4th in the ACC), and has hit three-or-more treys in seven of the last 10 outings.

A Look at North Carolina
The No. 2 Tar Heels remain among the nation’s best teams, following up a 2006 season in which they won their second-straight ACC title and advanced to the NCAA Final Four. Four of Carolina’s starters average double-figure scoring, led by senior Ivory Latta’s 16.2 points per game — including an ACC-best 19.3 ppg in league games. Of 11 statistical categories the ACC tracks, North Carolina leads the league in six and ranks among the top three in four others.

The Series
Sunday marks the ninth meeting between the programs, with Miami trailing the all-time series 2-6. The Hurricanes last defeated the Tar Heels, 86-72, in the Second Round of the NCAA Tournament on March 21, 1992, and were also victorious over Carolina on February 29, 1988, in the program’s lone win in Chapel Hill (75-69). Miami faces a steep challenge on Sunday as it is 0-2 versus ranked teams this season and has not won a road game since November 19 — a 69-59 win over San Francisco.
