Viola Wins Platform Event Sunday In Columbus

COLUMBUS, Ohio – University of Miami sophomore diver Brittany Viola won the women’s platform diving event with a score of 291.20 Sunday in the final day of competition at the Third Annual Ohio State Invitational at the McCorkle Aquatic Pavilion.

Viola beat second-place Stephanie De Lima from Hawai’i by 21.85 to win her first event of the weekend.

On Saturday, Viola placed fourth in the one-meter event with a mark of 278.45 after qualifying with a score of 278.15. She finished behind two divers from host Ohio State and one from Indiana. In the opening day of the invite on Friday, she qualified for the three-meter diving final with a mark of 280.90 before finishing third with a score of 315.55 in the final, placing behind two opponents from OSU.

UM’s divers will now head to Montreal, Quebec, Canada to compete in the CAMO Invitational, Dec. 6-9.
