McAdam Tabbed NSCAA National Player of the Week
Oct. 17, 2007
Coral Gables, Fla. – Unlike her opponents’ shots, the honors continue to roll in for the University of Miami’s Lauren McAdam (Simsbury, Conn.). The senior goalkeeper has been selected as the National Soccer Coaches Association of America (NSCAA) National Player of the Week after registering her school-record 13th and 14th career shutouts last week in wins over previously undefeated Boston College and Maryland.
McAdam – who is also the reigning ACC Player of the Week and has been selected to the Soccer America Women’s Team of the Week and Soccer Buzz Elite Team of the Week – is the second Hurricane in just three weeks to be selected as the top performer in the nation by the NSCAA, as freshman Brittney Steinbruch (Wyckoff, N.J.) earned the accolade on Oct. 3. In addition, Miami is the only school in the nation to have produced multiple NSCAA National Players of the Week this season and is the only ACC program to have had a player tabbed for this national recognition.
McAdam made six stops on 13 shots and did not give up a goal as Miami handed Boston College its first ACC loss of the season in a 1-0 win last Thursday. She registered her second-straight shutout and fourth of the season as the Hurricanes defeated Maryland 1-0 on Sunday, finishing with five saves on eight shots. For the week, McAdam totaled 11 saves on 21 shots with no goals allowed.
McAdam and the Hurricanes will play a pair of matches on the road this week, closing out their non-conference slate on Wed., Oct. 17, at cross-town rival Florida International at 7 p.m., before heading up to Tallahassee for a Sunday showdown with No. 12 Florida State. Sunday’s game will be televised live on Sun Sports at 1 p.m.
