Sept. 17, 2007
Coral Gables, Fla. (www. hurricanesports.com) – – A true freshman, Britteny Steinbruch helped the Hurricanes to a 1-1 record over the last week in their first set of home matches. In Friday’s 3-2 loss to USF, she netted her team-leading sixth goal of the season and added her seventh in Sunday’s 4-0 shutout win over Binghamton.
With that seventh goal of the season – in just her sixth game for the `Canes, she moves into a five-way tie for eighth place in Miami’s single-season goals list and is just three goals shy of moving into Miami’s top 10 career list for goals.
Averaging 1.2 goals per game, Steinbruch ranks among the ACC and NCAA’s leaders — entering last week tied for first in the ACC and 11th in the NCAA. A heralded player out of Ramapo High School, Steinbruch played with the U.S. U-20 Women’s National Team in the spring and was a two-time New Jersey Player of the Year.
