Miami Rowing Captures Three Second-Place Finishes at the Petrakis Cup

Orlando, Fla. – The University of Miami women’s rowing Varsity 8, JV 8 and Varsity 4 all crossed the line to finish second in their first appearance at the Petrakis Cup at Lake Pickett hosted by the University of Central Florida.
The Varsity 8 squad with Meghan Leydecker (coxswain), Sarah Conlon, Laura Coltman, Laura Cordner, Molly Wilson, Kelly Amlser, Karen Wiley, Natasha Lejer, and Caitlin Augustin finished with a time of 6:47.02 behind UCF. The Hurricanes finished ahead the UCF lightweights, Jacksonville University and Tulane.
Miami’s second race saw the JV 8 boat clock in at 6:53.68 behind UCF with Jordan Louie (Coxswain) Marleena Eyre, Bethany Krawec, Marenda Chamberlin, Olivia Arkell, Emy Huntsman, Valerie Webb, Karalyn Van Aken, and Hannah McKay ahead of Jacksonville.
The Hurricanes’ Varsity 4 boat went head-to-head with UCF. Miami finished second place with Jessica Cruz (Coxswain), Rachael Sporko, Stacey Kerr, Sarah Stocks, and Julianne Parker crossing the line at 8:07.02.
The Novice 4 boat finished third place at 8:45.67.
Petrakis Cup host UCF finished the day with the women’s point trophy and the overall point trophy.
Miami will be back in action next week where they will compete in the San Diego Crew Classic beginning March 31 through April 1.
