Ross Captures All-American Honors in the Men's One-Meter at the NCAA Championships

Minneapolis, Minn. – Freshman diver Ruben Ross kicked off the 2007 Men’s NCAA Swimming and Diving Championships on a high note as he earned ALL-American honors finishing eighth place in the men’s one-meter springboard Thursday evening at the at the Minnesota Aquatic Center on the campus of the University of Minnesota.
Ross, this season’s ACC Champion, will take home his first All-American honor as a Hurricane after capturing an eighth place finish in the A finals of the men’s one meter springboard with a score of 315.15.
Earlier in the preliminaries, the Regina Saskatchewan, Canada native came in fifth place with a score of 349.45.
Florida Sate’s Terry Horner won the event with a mark of 399.35.
The top eight finishers from the afternoon’s prelims advance to the evening’s finals. Student-athlete’s who finish among the top eight are named All-American. Those who place anywhere from ninth to 16th place are designated Honorable Mention All-American.
Today, Ross will be back in action to compete in the men’s three-meter springboard with preliminaries set to begin at noon CT. Finals are will commence at 7 p.m. CT.
