Miami Finishes Ninth at Chrysler Challenge

DESTIN, Fla. – Junior Jessica Steward fired a 16-over-par 229 to finish tied for seventh in the individual standings while the Hurricanes placed ninth overall at the 2007 Chrysler Challenge held February 24-26 at the Sandestin Golf and Beach Resort.

Steward, who shot rounds of 76 and 77 in the first and second days of competition, respectively, put together a five-over-par 76 during Monday’s final round to finish tied for seventh with Florida State’s Lauren Cousart.

As a team, Miami finished ninth with a three-day, 120-over-par 972.

Senior Tiffany Prats finished 34th with a 30-over 243 (84-79-80), senior Josie Shinn finished tied for 42nd with a 35-over 248 (85-81-82) and sophomore Anabelle Paulino placed 47th with a 39-over 252 (87-86-79).

The Hurricanes will return to action next weekend at the UCF Challenge in Orlando, Fla.
