Hurricanes Fall to Wake Forest, 59-58

MIAMI (AP) – Harvey Hale scored 17 points and hit key 3-pointers late in the game to help Wake Forest defeat Miami 59-58 on Saturday.
Following a first half where Wake Forest (9-5, 1-1 Atlantic Coast Conference) scored its lowest point total ever in a first half, the Demon Deacons outscored Miami 25-8 in the last 12 minutes of the game, erasing a 14-point deficit and securing its victory.
The Demon Deacons snapped a four-game losing streak on the road and won their first ACC regular-season game since 2005. Kyle Visser added 15 points for Wake Forest.
The Demon Deacons shot 47.8 percent in the second half and made 6-of-13 3-pointers in the second half. It was a contrast to the first half, when they made just 9-of-31 shots for a 29 percent field goal percentage and connected on one 3-pointer in 13 tries.
The Hurricanes (8-8, 1-1) went up 21-5 in the first 9:08 of the game as their backcourt scored 18 of the Hurricanes’ first 21 points. Jack McClinton led Miami with 12 points.
