Head coach Katie Meier and the Hurricanes will look to improve on an 8-5 overall record Thursday when they play host to CoppinState in the annual UM Holiday Tournament.

Despite having dropped each of its last two games, Miami currently boast a perfect 6-0 record in home games this season. Throughout those six games, the Hurricanes have outscored opponents by an average of 19.8 points and have only allowed more than 70 points once.

The Hurricanes will look for the continued hot play of senior guard Renee Taylor who tops the ACC in scoring (20.9) after scoring 42 and 24 points at Houston (Dec. 19) and Ole Miss (Dec. 21) last week, respectively.

Junior guard Maurita Reid is second on the UM roster in scoring (14.5) and rebounding (5.8) and tops the team in steals (3.3), recording eight over the last two games.

A Look at Coppin State

Coppin State and head coach Derek Brown head to Coral Gables with an overall record of 6-4 following a 59-54 loss at Seton Hall last Thursday.

The Eagles have yet to lose back-to-back games this season while holding opponents to just 51.6 points per game.

Coppin State is led by 2006 MEAC Preseason Player of the Year, senior guard Rashida Suber. Suber leads the team with 18.7 points and 2.7 steals per game while shooting 41.6 percent from beyond the three-point line.

The Series

Thursday’s game will mark the third meeting between the Hurricanes and Eagles with Miami holding a 2-0 all-time series edge. Miami upended the Eagles 93-83 Jan. 5, 2005 in the last meeting.
