Women's Golf Second After Opening Round

Kiawah Island, S.C. (hurricanesports.com) – The University of Miami women’s golf team fired an opening round 296 and is in second place at the Edwin Watts/Palmetto Intercollegiate in Kiawah Island, S.C.
The second round was suspended due to darkness and will resume at 8:15 a.m. Tuesday followed by the tournament’s final round.
The Hurricanes were led in the first round by junior Jessica Steward (Mystic, Conn.) who shot a 1-under-par score of 71. Steward, who recorded her first career win two weeks ago at the GSU/Pelican Preserve Invite, has now recorded three consecutive sub-par rounds. She is currently tied for second, two-strokes behind Steffi Kirchmayr of the College of Charleston.
Junior Hagen Weintraub (Pembroke Pines, Fla.) is tied for 11th after an opening round 74, while senior Josie Shinn (Pinehurst, N.C.) is tied for 16th (75) and senior Tiffany Prats (Williston, Fla.) is tied for 27th (76).
