Hurricanes Place Fifth At Wildcat Fall Classic

Lexington, Ky. (hurricanesports.com) – The University of Miami women’s golf team fired a final round 308 to finish tied for fifth at the Wildcat Fall Classic in Lexington, Ky.
Miami (322-314-308–944) finished tied with Birmingham Southern (329-308-307–944). Memphis recorded a final round 298 to win the team title with a three round total of 929.
The Hurricanes were led for the second straight tournament by junior Jessica Steward (Mystic, Conn.). Steward shot a final round 75 to finish in ninth-place (78-79-75–232). Senior Josie Shinn (Pinehurst, N.C.) finished tied for 16th (81-75-81–237) while sophomore Anabelle Paulino (Dominican Republic) ended the tournament tied for 21st (78-81-79–238).
Junior Hagen Weintraub (Pembroke Pines, Fla.) rebounded after a tough opening day to shoot a final round 73 and finish tied for 35th (85-84-73–242). Senior Urd Pedersen (Norway) finished tied for 70th (88-79-91–258).
Amanda Mathis of Mississippi State won the individual title by one stroke finishing with a three round score of 225. Adrienne White (Louisville) and Lauren Doughtie (NC State) finished tied for second.
The Hurricanes return to action October 16-17 at the Georgia State Invitational in Naples, Fla.
