Hurricanes Wait Out the Storm
Aug. 29, 2006
Coral Gables – The University of Miami football team practiced under partly cloudy skies at the Greentree Practice Fields Tuesday morning, less than a day before Tropical Storm Ernesto is expected to reach South Florida.
“Players need to get in and get where they need to be, get hydrated, rested and get ready for hopefully a normal Thursday with not a lot of damage around the area,” head coach Larry Coker said.
The University of Miami canceled classes for Tuesday and Wednesday, which means no practice for the Hurricanes on Wednesday. The players were already scheduled to have a day off on Wednesday, so Ernesto hasn’t put too much of a kink in the Hurricanes’ preparation for the opener against Florida State on September 4.
“We were out here for a long time today,” Coker said. “We’ll cut some time off those practices later in the week.
