Coral Gables – Miami hit the Greentree Practice Fields for the seventh straight day on Sunday afternoon. The student-athletes were given the morning off to attend church or to spend time freely, but they returned to workout underneath the blazing South Florida sun into the early evening.

“It was a little hot today,” head coach Larry Coker said. “But that’s good. We needed that. We have to press through those type of conditions. The guys should be rested and in pretty good condition.”

Miami’s wide receivers unit was a key topic of discussion after practice and will be a key leading up to the season opener against Florida State. “The (receivers) we have are good,” Coker said. “I like the receivers we have. For the most part, they make plays. We have to continue to work and get better. Marquis Mosely has done a great job with them. They are playing with a lot of confidence. We just have to carry that over to September 4.”

Lance Leggett and Darnell Jenkins specifically, will be a crucial part to a Labor Day night win against Florida State, Coker said. “They are going to be extremely important,” Coker said. “If they don’t make plays against Florida State, we’re probably not going to win. That’s just plain and simple. We have to have plays out of our receivers.”

Miami will return to the Greentree Practice Fields at 8:20 a.m. Monday.
