Hechtman, Vallverdu Named to All-ACC Academic Men's Tennis Team

CORAL GABLES, Fla. – Senior Eric Hechtman and freshman Daniel Vallverdu were named to the inaugural All-ACC Academic Men’s Tennis Team, as announced by ACC Commissioner John D. Swofford.
To be eligible for consideration, all ACC student-athlete must have earned a 3.00 grade point average for the previous semester and maintained a 3.00 cumulative average during her academic career.
Hechtman, a 2006 All-ACC selection and native of Miami, concluded his final season at UM with an overall singles record of 24-9 this season, including an impressive 9-2 mark versus conference opponents.
He also recorded 24 doubles wins over the season, giving him a career mark of 86-41 making him Miami all-time career leader in career doubles victories.
Vallverdu, the 2006 ACC Freshman of the Year who hails from Valencia, Venezuela, earned All-America status for his play in doubles this season. After enrolling at UM prior to the start of the spring semester, Vallverdu posted an overall record of 19-7 in doubles and pairing with teammate Luigi D’Agord, who also earned All-America honors in doubles, advanced to the quarterfinals of the NCAA Doubles Championships.
In singles the freshman posted an overall record of 17-7 along with an impressive 9-2 mark in league play to earn conference freshman of the year honors.
