CORAL GABLES, Fla. –
Head coach Tricia Taliaferro has announced the signing of Danielle Griebel (<?xml:namespace prefix=”st1″ ns=”urn:schemas-microsoft-com:office:smarttags”?>Arlington Heights, Ill.) to a National Letter of Intent to play soccer at Miami beginning this fall.<?xml:namespace prefix=”o” ns=”urn:schemas-microsoft-com:office:office”?>
A 5-8 defender, Griebel earned three varsity letters at Saint Viator High School while leading Saint Viator to state championships in 2003 and 2005. While at Saint Viator she earned Chicago Tribune All-Area Second Team and Daily Herald All-Area honors in 2005 and Chicago Tribune Honorable Mention honors in 2003 and 2004.
On the club level, she has spent the past six seasons with Eclipse Select helping the Eclipse to back-to-back National Championships in 2004 and 2005.
“Danielle is a physical and athletic presence who will be a player we can count on to make an immediate impact,” said Taliaferro. “One of her best qualities is her championship mentality. She has been extremely successful at both the club and high school level and we look forward to what she is going to add to this program.”
Griebel becomes the fourth signee in the 2006 class, joining midfielder Courtney Alexander (Madison, Miss.), forward Tiffany Solorio (Sacramento, Calif.) and midfielder Jessica Wyble (Potomac, Md.), who all signed with the Hurricanes earlier this year.
