ATLANTA, Ga. –

Sweeping all six singles matches and winning two of three doubles matches, No. 17 Miami downed No. 22 Georgia Tech 7-0 Sunday afternoon in <?xml:namespace prefix=”st1″ ns=”urn:schemas-microsoft-com:office:smarttags”?>Atlanta, Ga.<?xml:namespace prefix=”o” ns=”urn:schemas-microsoft-com:office:office”?>

 

The win over Georgia Tech (6-1, 0-1 ACC) gives Miami (7-2, 2-1) it’s fourth victory over a ranked opponent this season.

 

In singles, No. 8 Luigi D’Agord defeated the Yellow Jackets’ Mark Rajevac in straight sets, 6-1, 6-4 at the No. 1 position while No. 18 Josh Cohen upended Zachary Rath, 6-7 (2-7), 6-1, 6-2 at the No. 2 spot.

 

On the No. 3 court, UM’s Daniel Vallverdu downed David North, 7-5, 2-6, 6-3 and Eric Hechtman defeated Jordan Delass, 4-6, 6-3, 7-6 (11-9) on the No. 4 court.

 

Miami’s John Hoyes overtook Tech’s George Gvelesiani, 6-4, 6-4, at No. 5 and Vivek Subramanian defeated Scott Blackmon, 4-6, 6-4, 7-6 (12-10), at No. 6.

 

In doubles, Hechtman and Cohen defeated Blackmon and Rath, 8-6, on court No. 2 while Subramanian and P.J. Passalacqua upended Delass and Gvelesiani, 8-5, at No. 3.
