Zwiegers Heads to Bulldog Invitational

CORAL GABLES, <?xml:namespace prefix=”st1″ ns=”urn:schemas-microsoft-com:office:smarttags”?>Fla.– University of Miami swimming freshman standout Christine Zwiegers will compete in the University of Georgia’s Bulldog Invitational Saturday, Feb. 25 and Sunday, Feb. 26 at Gabrielsen Natatorium.

The two-day event will serve as a last chance meet for swimmers and divers trying to qualify or improve standings for the NCAA Championships. The meet will consist of a morning prelim session beginning at 10:00 a.m. with a finals session slated for 5:00 p.m.

 

Zwiegers had quite a showing in her first Atlantic Coast Conference Championships of her career.  The Somerset West, South Africa native, finished fifth in the 50-yard freestyle with an NCAA B cut time of 23.22–the best time turned in by a Hurricane this season. She then finished fifth in the 100-yard butterfly with a time of 55.43–seven one-hundredths of a second off the NCAA B cut time. In the 100-yard freestyle, Zwiegers finished 10th with a time of 51.77.

 

Schools from around the southeast will be in attendance along with meet host Georgia and Miami including, South Carolina, Clemson and Florida International.
