Hurricanes Hold On To Beat Sacred Heart 63-57

CORAL GABLES, Fla. (AP) – Guillermo Diaz and Robert Hite each scored 16 points to lead Miami to a 63-57 victory over Sacred Heart on Monday
Diaz rebounded from a scoreless game in the Hurricanes’ 58-43 loss to Louisville on Saturday by hitting a 3-pointer to help stop Sacred Hart’s 15-2 run, and giving Miami a 48-42 with 6:06 remaining in the second half.
Denis Clemente followed with a driving layup and the Pioneers never got closer than Drew Shubik’s field goal to cut Miami’s lead to 60-55 with 30 seconds remaining in the game.
Kibwe Trim scored a game-high 17 points and Eugene Pettway added 13 to lead Sacred Heart, which played its third straight road game and first since a 73-64 loss at Monmouth on Dec. 18.
Anthony King’s two field goals in the first 6:30 of the second half helped Miami build a 41-27 lead.
But Brice Brooks scored eight points in a 15-2 run as the Pioneers reduced the Hurricanes’ advantage to 45-42 with 6:30 remaining in the second half before Diaz’s and Clemente’s baskets within a 22-second span secured Miami’s lead.
Anthony Harris, who hit two 3-pointers, helped the Hurricanes open an 18-5 lead in the first 10 minutes of the game.
But Pettway scored two field goals during a 7-0 run to cut Miami’s lead to 18-12 with 8:49 remaining in the first half.
